Little fat robin, balancing rather precariously on a narrow perch |
This female blackbird is balancing on wire to reach snow-covered apple peel |
A coal tit enjoying sunflower seeds |
The coal tit waits while the blue tit takes his turn |
A brightly coloured goldfinch scoffs nyjer seed |
Here are just a few of the different species of birds that visited our bird feeders during the recent icy cold & snowy weather. The poor birds were so hungry that many of them learned new tricks - the blackbirds learned to balance precariously on some wire in order to get to the apples and suet, and the robins learned how to stay on a perch (that is far too narrow for a fat robin's body!) long enough to eat their fill
